Internet Tracking Bill Passes House Judiciary Committee

The members of Congress are currently working on a law that will significantly reduce the privacy of average innocent Americans. Sponsored by Lamar Smith of Texas, H.R.1981 passed the House Judiciary Committee on July 29, 2011 with supporting votes from the following Representatives.

Rep Adams, Sandy [FL-24] - Republican
Rep Berman, Howard [CA-28] - Democrat
Rep Chabot, Steve [OH-1] - Republican
Rep Coble, Howard [NC-6] - Republican
Rep Forbes, J. Randy [VA-4] - Republican
Rep Franks, Trent [AZ-2] - Republican
Rep Gallegly, Elton [CA-24] - Republican

Rep Lungren, Daniel E. [CA-3] - Republican
Rep Marino, Tom [PA-10] - Republican
Rep Ross, Dennis [FL-12] - Republican
Rep Smith, Lamar [TX-21] - Republican

This bill, mostly supported by Republicans, has a very deceptive name. It has been called the Protecting Children From Internet Pornographers Act of 2011, but the law will do little to stop child pornographers. What the law actually does is cast a broad net of data retention for every American who uses the Internet. This law will require all internet service providers in the United States to keep extensive records on the online activity of their subscribers. Some of the information to be tracked is customers' names, addresses, phone numbers, credit card numbers, bank account numbers, and temporarily-assigned IP addresses.

If you use the Internet, regardless of whether your actions are legal or not, detailed records of who you are and what you do online will be stored for at least one year. These records may be used by law enforcement to investigate virtually any sort of crime. Do not be surprised if the reach of the law expands even further into civil uses in the future.

TSA Refuses to Hire Handicapped Man Born with One Hand

If you need another example of the Transportation Security Administration's coarse treatment of handicapped people, look at the case of Michael Constantino. Constantino wants to work for the TSA as a Transportation Security Officer, but the TSA will not hire him for that particular job because he is missing his right hand. The TSA never gave Constantino a chance to prove he could actually do the job, they just informed him he could not work as Transportation Security Officer. Constantino is now suing the TSA.

The TSA left open the possibility that Constantino could apply for other positions within the TSA, but they have dashed Constantino dreams of being a powerful airport overlord who gets to intimidate, humiliate, and harass innocent people all day. Michael Constantino, like all TSA applicants and employees, should be ashamed of himself for wanting to join a disgustingly abusive and incompetent crew of voyeurs, bullies, thieves, and gropers, but he wants the job, and if he can prove he can do the job, he should get it.

Really, how hard could it be to work for the TSA? How many hands does it take to rub a passenger's buttcrack and fiddle with his testicles? The TSA will probably defend themselves by explaining that it takes one-handed TSA agents twice as long to grope people, but since when has the TSA been so obsessed with speed? Given the TSA's poor record for dealing with disabled people, the TSA probably does not want to hire Michael Constantino because he will be one less handicapped guy they will get to molest.

The TSA should hire Michael Constantino and let him get right to grabbing men's junk, power-tripping with business travelers, stealing from passengers, poking old people's diapers, taking naked scans of hot girls, molesting small children, patting down babies, and inconveniencing handicapped people on their way to Disney World. For some people, this is their dream, and Michael Constantino deserves a shot at that dream like anyone else.

TSA Worker Stole from LAX Passengers

If you come back from a flight and find that valuables are missing from your luggage, do not automatically blame yourself for being absentminded or careless. It is very possible a Transportation Security Administration agent stole items from you.

Paul Yashou of Torrance, California is the latest TSA employee to be caught stealing from passengers. Paul Yashou got caught stealing things such as luxury watches and a pre-paid debit card from airline passengers at the Los Angeles International Airport.

It should be noted that the TSA did not catch the thief. One of the theft victims broke the case upon noticing one of the stolen watches was listed on eBay. Paul Yashou was arrested on July 22, 2011. So, not only does the TSA hire criminals, they do such a poor job of watching them, that independent citizens have to be the ones catching the federally employed thieves.

These TSA workers are supposed to be looking for bombs and terrorists, but they are simply too busy stealing, groping, harassing, humiliating innocent people to be bothered with such burdens and formalities. The people are who supposed to be protecting you are much more likely to be the ones victimizing you.

Grover Norquist Quote of the Day

"I don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub."

Children Strip-Searched at Ohio Summer Camp

Ibrahim Y. Haroon is upset because his child was strip-searched on July 19, 2011 as part of a group of around sixty-five children attending summer camp at the Robert K. Fox Family Y in Lancaster, Ohio.

Some feces was found in the pool. The staff asked for kids to confess to defecating in the pool, but no child would confess. If the staff had any sort of wisdom, they would have just suspended pool privileges, but that solution did not seem to be oppressive and sexy enough for them.

The staff took all of the swimmers into the locker rooms, two-by-two, had them face the wall, and had them pull down their bathing suits or bathing suit bottoms. The staff members then inspected the bathing suits.

Just because one person may have pooped in the pool, why does that mean dozens of innocent children have to be humiliated? Also, since when did it become okay for an adult to demand a child disrobe? This strip-search of children is not only a gross violation of basic civil liberties, it is a sex crime. Adults cannot force children to undress. A teacher does not have the right to take children into a classroom and make them undress. The ranger at the park does not have the right to take children behind the bushes and make them undress. What the staff at the Robert K. Fox Family Y did is no different. Every staff member who participated in this strip-search needs to be fired, arrested for lewd and lascivious conduct, and never be allowed to work with children again.

Massachusetts Wants to Scan and Track License Plates

Massachusetts has plans to assemble a statewide database that will store records from automatic license plate recognition devices in the state. Automatic license plate recognition devices can be installed virtually anywhere, but they are commonly mounted on patrol cars. These devices rapidly scan and capture license plate numbers of the vehicles within their proximity. The license plate numbers automatically get processed through a database of numbers associated with violations. For example, if a fugitive's license plate number is in the database, and an automatic license plate recognition device scans that plate number, a police officer will be alerted to the presence of the fugitive's vehicle.

This system has a very creepy Big Brother vibe to it, and it creates huge opportunities for abuse. Massachusetts, however, is taking things to the next level. Massachusetts wants to store the data collected by the automatic license plate recognition devices in a big database that the multiple agencies can access. This database would allow the state of Massachusetts to keep virtual tabs on anyone who owns a vehicle and happens to ever get within the proximity of a automatic license plate recognition device. This system amounts to tracking, and innocent citizens who are not suspected of any crime should not be tracked under any circumstances.

Florida Made $63 Million Selling Personal Information

If you have a Florida driver license, you might want to know that the state is selling your information to private companies for a profit. The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles made $63 million last year selling names, addresses, birth dates, and vehicle ownership information to companies like Lexus Nexus and Shadow Soft.

Who knows what other information about you the state is selling and where it is going? The potential for abuse and identity theft is massive. One thing is for certain. This is a huge assault on privacy, and it is happening so the state of Florida can make some easy cash. By the way, Floridians, if you are wondering exactly what your information is worth, the state sells it for one cent per file.

TSA Security Breaches Hit 25,000 Mark

Under the Transportation Security Administration's watch, 25,000 security breaches have occurred since November 2011.

Tit-for-Tat As Passenger Gropes TSA Agent

On July 14, 2011, Yukari Mihamae, a sixty-one-year-old Longmont, Colorado woman, contacted the left breast of a female TSA agent at the Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix. Yukari Mihamae grabbed and squeezed the TSA agent's breast. Mihamae has been charged with a felony count of sexual abuse.

Ironically, if the TSA agent had grabbed and squeezed Yukari Mihamae's breast, the TSA agent would have faced not much more than having a meaningless complaint filed against her. It is quite possible nothing would have happened to the TSA agent. To keep out of trouble when you go to the airport, remember the TSA has the same policy as strippers: You can't touch them, but they can touch you.
